1.Who runs this site

SnowCam (snowcam.app, the "site") is run by an individual. This policy explains what information is handled when you use the site and how it is used.

2.Information we handle

The site has no sign-up or contact forms and does not collect personal details such as names or email addresses. Using the site involves the following.

• Access logs: the site runs on Cloudflare. Your IP address, browser type, time of access and referrer are processed by Cloudflare's infrastructure. The site itself does not store or use them to identify you.
• Country lookup: to choose where the map starts when you open it on the English pages, the site reads the country code that Cloudflare attaches to the request. The country code is not stored.
• On-device storage (localStorage): whether you have seen the intro animation, the side-panel width, and the dates and party size you enter in "Plan a trip here" are kept in your browser. They are never sent to our server and disappear when you clear the site's data. When you follow a stay or carpool link in that panel, the resort name, dates and party size are passed to the destination site as search conditions.
• Cookies: the site sets no cookies of its own. The third-party services below may set cookies.

3.Third-party services

The site relies on the following services. Where your browser talks to a service directly, your IP address and similar data are sent to that service and its own privacy policy applies.

• YouTube (Google LLC): live cameras are shown with YouTube's official embedded player in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). When you select a camera the video starts playing muted, and from then on YouTube may use cookies. Thumbnails are also loaded from YouTube. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
• Map tiles: OpenFreeMap (© OpenMapTiles, © OpenStreetMap contributors), loaded directly by your browser.
• Nearby webcams: the Windy.com Webcams API (Windyty SE). The list is fetched by our server; thumbnails, and Windy's embedded player when you select a camera, are loaded by your browser from Windy's servers.
• Resort camera images: some still images published by resorts, municipalities and travel sites (official resort sites, SURF&SNOW, Minamiuonuma City, Otari Village and others) are loaded by your browser directly from the provider.
• Road cameras: still images published by NEXCO East (Dorapura), NEXCO Central (iHighway), national road offices of Japan's Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, and the road-information services of Niigata, Fukushima, Gifu and Nagano prefectures. Nagano's images are relayed through our server so they can be served over https (cached for about 3 minutes); all others are loaded by your browser directly from the provider.
• Weather: Open-Meteo (CC BY 4.0), fetched by our server, so your browser never contacts Open-Meteo.
• ISS orbital elements: CelesTrak (or wheretheiss.at as a fallback), fetched by our server.
• Fonts: Inter Tight and Noto Sans JP are served from our own server; no requests go to Google Fonts.

4.Affiliate programs

The site takes part in, or has applied to, affiliate programs including Rakuten Affiliate (Rakuten Group, Inc.), ValueCommerce (Jalan, asoview), Booking.com and others. When you book or buy through a link in a panel marked "Ad" (stays, lift tickets, packages, highway buses and similar), the site may earn a commission. The partner sets cookies on its own site to measure this. It costs you nothing extra.

5.Advertising

The site currently serves no advertising. If third-party advertising such as Google AdSense is added, this page will be updated first to describe the cookies used and how to opt out.

6.Analytics

The site uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand how it is used. It sets no cookies and uses no on-device storage; it aggregates pages viewed, referrers, browser type and country, and is not used to identify you. The measurement script is added to pages automatically by Cloudflare and loaded by your browser from Cloudflare (static.cloudflareinsights.com). 7.Camera footage and takedown requests

All rights to camera footage and images belong to their providers. The site only shows YouTube's official embeds or images that providers publish, and never records, stores or rebroadcasts them. Every camera shows its provider and a link to the source. Takedown requests from a provider are honored promptly.

8.Disclaimer

Camera, weather and road information is shown as provided by its sources and is not guaranteed to be accurate or current. Check official sources before you drive or travel. The operator accepts no liability for damage arising from use of the site or for the content of linked external sites.

This policy may be revised without notice. Revisions take effect when they are posted on this page.
